Burning Cat Fund
Update (12/7/15)- One of the most challenging parts in fulfilling our mission of ending pet overpopulation in Mississippi is reaching those who need our services most and letting them know that we are here to help. Thanks to everyone who donated to our Burning Cat Fund so far, we were able to send a 10,000 postcards on 12/4/15- one to every address in zip code 39213-to help get more pets and strays from this area in to our clinic, and to educate the public on the many benefits of spay/neuter. As of today, we have already received many calls from residents of this area who are interested in bringing not only strays and ferals to The Big Fix Clinic, but also their pets. We are thrilled that this campaign is already making an impact!
Mississippi Spay and Neuter's mission is to end animal overpopulation in the state of Mississippi. The negative effects of overpopulation can be seen in neighborhoods where stray cats continually breed, causing tensions between neighbors, and sometimes worse. In response to the woman who burned a cat alive and shared her horrific deed on Facebook, we knew that something had to be done to prevent acts like this in the future.
Through spay and neuter, we can stop cruelty before it starts by preventing the births of unwanted puppies and kittens. We believe that positive actions can change the world for good, and we want to enable Mississippians to do the right thing by getting strays fixed in their neighborhood.
From September 2015 to September 2016, we will be offering free spay and neuter to feral (wild) and stray cats in zip code 39213, where this act of cruelty occurred.
Our updated fundraising goal is $5,000, which will allow us to:
We also need:
•Volunteers to trap and/or transport cats to the Big Fix Clinic and back
•Social media ambassadors who will share this information with friends and family
Thank you for your compassion! Together we can make a big difference in the lives of animals.
