A: Thanks for your service to the community.

Q: How did you learn about spay and neuter and its importance? Was there a life event that changed your views?
A: I worked with animal lovers at one time. I happened to be talking about the cat that would not go away, it was so cold that night that I could not turn my back on her. I let it stay in the garage. I was telling them I did not want to keep it because I did not want cats everywhere. The advised me of your services and I now have adopted 3 cats (all spay/neuter).

Q: With so many great organizations to support, why should others support Mississippi Spay and Neuter?
A: They are trying to keep animals from suffering because no one wants them. If people took the time to care for their animals responsibly there would not be so many suffering animals on the streets.
  • John Rucker
Q: Without access to affordable spay/neuter, what would you have done? Who/what would have suffered?
A: I may not have been able to afford to get them fixed. I would have had to run them off because I do not want an over population of cats.
  • John Rucker
Q: What is the animal's life like now?
A: Living the life of Riley, two meals a day and shelter.
  • John Rucker
Q: Do you remember the first time you saw the animal? What was their physical and emotional state like?
A: The were hungry, cold, very under weight and desperate.

Q: Tell us about a specific animal or animals who used our services.
A: I have involuntarily adopted 3 stray cats over the years, two girls, and one boy. I immediately had them fixed so that there would not be other kittens.
  • John Rucker
Q: What do you wish that other people knew about us?
A: That you are available at a low cost, that you will spay/neuter stray cats and dogs at a lower cost to help the homeless animal population.

Q: Is there anything else you would like to share?
A: Please spay and neuter your pets! They will be healthier and still as happy, if not happier!

Q: How did you learn about spay and neuter and its importance? Was there a life event that changed your views?
A: My first indoor cat I got when I was in junior high was when I realized spay and neuter was important. Up to that point all of our pets (growing up in a rual area) just did what they do. My grandmother at one time had roughly 30 cats and at that point I had started researching options and learned about programs offered in her area. When I mentioned it to her the response was “it just has a way of working itself out” and that made me sad. The older I have gotten I realize this is the thought for most people in our area and it will not change without education.

Q: With so many great organizations to support, why should others support Mississippi Spay and Neuter?
A: I think it’s a win win for everyone! Those who love animals can feel they help with the over population problem. Those who don’t like animals can help with the over population problem. Feral TNR allows the benefits of reducing rodent populations without over running an area with cats and kittens! Once spayed or neutered the desire for mating and territory marking are eliminated.

Q: Without access to affordable spay/neuter, what would you have done? Who/what would have suffered?
A: As a single mom to two kids without affordable spay and neuter we probably would not have adopted Rosie when we did and I probably would not have taken on the challenge of the kittens and Jack.
  • Vicki Payne
Q: What is the animal's life like now?
A: I feel they have a great life! All 5 of my kitties are inside, 4 exclusive. There is no concern about territorial markings and the odor that comes with it. There is obviously not preference when it comes to animals so no issues of unwanted litters between them or another if they happen to get out. Jack is already noticeably more calm! With him there is a reduced worry of him trying to get out to mark and mate.

Q: Do you remember the first time you saw the animal? What was their physical and emotional state like?
A: They all were such sweet little loves! Still a bit groggy but that’s to be expected.

Q: Tell us about a specific animal or animals who used our services.
A: First was Rosie (cat) we adopted her from someone on social media and she stole our hearts immediately! Then we came across a litter of 4 kitties that a lady did not want at her home. The plan was to trap mom and bring her and babies home, well they had other plans! Mom and babies got separated so all 4 had to be bottle fed, they were about 1 1/2 weeks old at that time. We has 2 girls and 2 boys! That could get bad quick so they all were taken care of by The Big Fix. Then there is Jack! He is a lab mix that was found wondering the side of the road in a ditch with his brother. We took them in while trying to locate the owners or a new home. The brother found his forever home and Jack picked us! Last on the list is Richie (cat), once we moved to our new home back in December, Rosie started running the streets and brought back Richie. It has taken some work but he is now friendly and can hopefully get his turn in soon!

Q: What do you wish that other people knew about us?
A: That their pet (s) still receive quality care! That there are more services offered than just spay and neuter! You can get vaccinations, flea and tick treatments, nail trims and more!

  • Gail Thompson
Q: How did you learn about spay and neuter and its importance? Was there a life event that changed your views?
A: I found out about the clinic from a conversation while in line at the bank, if I was not able to get my female cur spayed I would have had to pen up my sweet mama dog due to the large litters those dogs have every four months
  • Gail Thompson
Q: With so many great organizations to support, why should others support Mississippi Spay and Neuter?
A: Because of the amount of stray animals , the amount of stray animals that are pregnant and dumped
  • Gail Thompson
Q: Without access to affordable spay/neuter, what would you have done? Who/what would have suffered?
A: I rescued two female cur dogs, both were pregnant without my knowledge, one girl had 11 pups and the other had 9 I now have 15 that are all spayed, 7 of my 15 are females without affordable care I would have more babies than I could possibly give quality care,
  • Gail Thompson

  • Gail Thompson
