Q: Is there anything else you would like to share? A: I’m always telling people about MSSPAN, and someone will inevitably say, “I don’t trust that they’d do a good job… all they do is spay and neuter”. To which I respond, “exactly”. MSSPAN employs vets and vet techs to provide this one service and provide it well. All they do, day in and day out, is spay and neuter pets. They are literally the experts. Trust them!

Q: Without access to affordable spay/neuter, what would you have done? Who/what would have suffered? A: Basically, because I believe in “adopt, don’t shop” and that all rescues should be neutered, I would have had to find a way to pay for the procedures.

Q: How did you learn about spay and neuter and its importance? Was there a life event that changed your views? A: I’ve believed in slaying and neutering ever since I was educated on the matter, which was maybe in HS or college (might have been before, but I can’t exactly remember—I didn’t have my own pet that I made those types of decisions for until college, anyway). So, educating people is very important. So many people just don’t understand the problem, or just have never thought about it.

Q: With so many great organizations to support, why should others support Mississippi Spay and Neuter? A: Overpopulation of cats and dogs is a HUGE problem in MS. I see so many people get incensed about kill shelters in our state, but they somehow can’t make the connection between spaying and neutering and reducing the amount of animals that shelters have to put down. Breeding is a problem, and I wish that people would stop contributing. Don’t shop, ADOPT! And SPAY/NEUTERYOURPETS… and your weird friends… ;)

Q: What do you wish that other people knew about us? A: That the Big Fix Clinic cares about the pets that they spay and/or neuter and can even schedule an appointment date for you to meet at the courthouse at 6:30 to deliver your pet for the procedure and pick up that same day!

Q: Without access to affordable spay/neuter, what would you have done? Who/what would have suffered? A: I would have struggled to pay to have her fixed. I strongly believe in slaying and neutering, so I still would have done it, but it would have been a big strain, financially.
