Q: Tell us about a specific animal or animals who have used our services.
A: Its very hard to single out just one as you have likely helped me with at least 15 or more. Little Mister, Carmel and Beauty have been with me the longest and appreciate every day they have made my life better.
  • Karen Goll
Q: What do you wish that other people knew about us?
A: That you make every effort to make spay & neuter affordable for those of us with limited funds. I would also like to see more traffic at your thrift store.
  • Karen Goll
Q: What attracted you to our cause?
A: As an older person with limited income and a desire to help dogs I could not help but appreciate being able to spay, neuter, and give Rabies vaccines to to many more than I could have helped using Vets. Until Becca Flores graduated from Miss State Vet school I was also blessed with help from them- both with spay & neuter, and their monthly trips to areas where folks were happier to get dogs.

Q: Is there anything else you would like to share?
A: Only to thank you again for the services you offer.
  • Margaret Gracy
Q: How did you learn about spay/neuter and its importance? Was there a life event that changed your views?
A: I have been fortunate to have had cats as pets to love from an early age. After seeing two tom cats suffer the wounds of male battles, my Daddy taught me about the importance of neuter/ spay.
  • Margaret Gracy
Q: With so many great organizations to support, why should others support spay and neuter?
A: Because it gives so many more cats a chance at a better, safer, healthier life whereas economics might prevent many kind souls that cannot pay the going rate at vets’ offices.
  • Margaret Gracy
Q: What is the animal's life like now?
A: They are happy & healthy living in my big fenced-in back yard. The yard was their choice not mine. I had them inside, but they preferred the great outdoors.
  • Margaret Gracy
Q: Do you remember the first time you saw the animal? What was their physical and emotional state like?
A: Mae Mae & Timmy were rescued from Hwy 80W. Timmy was living in a drainpipe & surviving on stale sandwiches brought to him by the sandwich vendor & Mae Mae had had her sweet little face kicked in by a rotten bully. Dr. Walker in Clinton fixed her chin for me. Both of them, surprisingly, let me pick them up & give them the loving home they never had before.

Q: Tell us about a specific animal or animals who have used our services.
A: We have about seven or eight cats in a colony where I work & one that I still feed at my former place of employment in addition to my six at home! Each & every one has a better quality of life thanks to your services.
  • Margaret Gracy
Q: What do you wish that other people knew about us?
A: I actively suggest y’all to everyone I meet that are planning to spay/ neuter their cats. I wish other people knew how nice y’all are & how easy you make it to use your services.
  • Margaret Gracy
Q: What attracted you to our cause?
A: The affordability of “fixing” as many cats that I have adopted. I am a firm believer in either rescuing & taking them home or in trap, neuter, release. Thanks again for providing such a much needed, valuable service.

Q: When did you first hear about MS SPAN and/or the Big Fix Clinic?
A: I honestly can’t remember, but it has probably been over five years ago. Y’all have “fixed” all six of my feral/rescue cats that I now enjoy. Thank you for your good work!

Q: Is there anything else you would like to share?
A: I am truly thankful for all that MS SPAN has done for our little town & other communities in MS. I will never be able to thank Elaine Adair enough for making it possible for us to do so much for the animals here in Natchez. She is a blessing to so many!

Q: How did you learn about spay/neuter and its importance? Was there a life event that changed your views?
A: We have always gotten our pets fixed. As times have changed & more people are activist to help animals, spay/neuter is being talked about more & people are being educated on why it is so important – not just to save lives, but also for the health of ones pet(s).
  • Ginna Holyoak
Q: With so many great organizations to support, why should others support spay and neuter?
A: For those who love animals, this is the key place for people to support as lives are being saved w/ each spay/neuter. It is the ONLY way to make things better for the pet overpopulation problem.
  • Ginna Holyoak
Q: What is the animal's life like now?
A: I don’t know what officially happened to those pups in the Shelter front pen I saw that day. But I do know w/ the help of many friends & a caring Community, we slowly began to get pets fixed & have saved a lot of little lives from
eing born to end up suffering, homeless or in our Shelter w/ hopes of finding a loving home.

Q: Do you remember the first time you saw the animal? What was their physical and emotional state like?
A: The time I realized it was time to finally do something in our Community was when I had gone to our Shelter to drop off some aluminum cans – the collected these to turn in for money to help the Shelter. There were some dogs in the “drop off pen” that day – a few adult dogs & some puppies. Some had mange. They were -all pitiful looking. One of the adult dogs had his head inside the dog house. He turned around & looked @ me w/ a broken spirit & then stuck his head back in the house. I called the Shelter to see if there was anything I could do to help them & was told no – that when they have mange like that, they really couldn’t help them. That was the day I moved forward to make a difference.

Q: Tell us about a specific animal or animals who have used our services.
A: Our community has been using the services offered through MS SPAN for almost 9 years now! They helped us set-up our “Natchez Fund” Voucher Program which has helped us to fix over 2000 animals so far!
  • Ginna Holyoak
Q: What do you wish that other people knew about us?
A: I love telling others about how y’all have helped us & other parts of Mississippi! I wish more people knew about spay/neuter in general – why it is important & that some places can utilize MS SPAN to help them do the right thing & have their pet(s) fixed.
  • Ginna Holyoak
Q: What attracted you to our cause?
A: Several of us here in Natchez wanted to finally do something to help the huge pet overpopulation problem – our Shelter was taking in over 3000 animals a year @ the time & the euthanasia rate was 90%. We knew spay/neuter was the only solution to make a difference in reducing these numbers.

Q: When did you first hear about MS SPAN and/or the Big Fix Clinic?
A: 2009 When a friend & I attended their Summer Conference in Jackson.
  • Monica Mock
Q: Is there anything else you would like to share?
A: Mississippi Spay and Neuter did the tremendous service to this community. We still get calls about the Big Fix Rig and the outreach clinic they did here at the shelter. That says a lot, after all this time. We would love to be part of the outreach program again.
  • Monica Mock
Q: How did you learn about spay/neuter and its importance? Was there a life event that changed your views?
A: Yes, working in the animal shelter. I always thought it was important, but seeing the result of unwanted litters time and time again, really hits hard. It is heartbreaking, but so avoidable.
  • Monica Mock
Q: With so many great organizations to support, why should others support spay and neuter?
A: Because it saves lives. It makes them more adoptable/desirable. Keeps them and their offspring from suffering starvation, abandonment and diseases. You are saving many with just one spay.
  • Monica Mock
Q: What is the animal's life like now?
A: They are happy, healthier and now have a loving home. They are valued instead of a nuisance animal that keeps having litters.
  • Monica Mock
Q: Do you remember the first time you saw the animal? What was their physical and emotional state like?
A: The animals were nervous when dropped off, but settled in quickly after the paperwork and controled chaos of intakes.
  • Monica Mock
Q: Tell us about a specific animal or animals who have used our services.
A: Many animals were spayed and neutered through this service. Shelter animals, which helped our adopt rate. And many, many, many, from the public. Quite often from the senior citizens, or those with limited income. Their animals probably would not have be spayed or neutered except for this program.
  • Monica Mock
Q: What do you wish that other people knew about us?
A: That you are an option for them to utilize. But it seems to be a issue for them, to go to Pearl or Jackson. They want you to come here again.
  • Monica Mock
Q: What attracted you to our cause?
A: The need for a low cost option for the public to spay/neuter their animals. To help stop the over population that keeps the shelters full.
