Justice for Animals & Animal Advocacy Initiative of Mississippi will join fellow Mississippi animal advocates and advocacies in a Candlelight Vigil, the eve before the Feb. 6th arraignment of “Billy”, William Larry Swain, a resident of Gulfport, for the brutal beating of his dog, Albert. The crime was captured on a home surveillance camera and witnessed by his 11 year old grandson. Dec. 13th, 2016 a warrant was issued for Swain and he surrender to the Biloxi Police Department.
The purpose of this event is gain public attention to the grave
need for strengthened animal cruelty statues and ordinances in
our state. While “livestock” have the full protection of felony
law, § 97-41-15. Maliciously injuring livestock, Farm Bureau
fights equal protection for our companion animals and others.
Swain’s crime against Albert is only a first offense misdemeanor.
