Volunteer Spotlight- Vicky Wade

Vicky is currently MS SPAN's most active volunteer- she works at our Big Thrift store and the Big Fix Clinic weekly.

We sat down with Vicky for a Q and A to learn more about her and the making of a rock star volunteer.

What got you interested in volunteering?
I recently retired, and finally have more time for my passion: animal welfare. As I became more aware of the work of MS SPAN, I knew this was the place for me!

What are your hobbies?
Animals, of course! I have a dog clothing business, "Anabel Lee- Haute Couture for Hounds," which is named after my redbone coonhound/boxer mix, Anabel Lee. All items are donated to various animal welfare groups for their fundraising events. I also enjoy traveling, organic gardening, reading, and being retired from the corporate world!

Tell us about your fur-kids.
The number could change at any given moment, however, I currently have the above-mentioned "Anabel Lee" and 8 cats. All were rescued from the worst of circumstances and now enjoy a very pampered lifestyle. Also, I manage a large feral cat colony at a convenience store in Terry.

What would you tell someone who is interested in volunteering with MS SPAN?
MS SPAN is comprised of an awesome group of totally devoted people who are making a huge difference in the lives of so many animals on a daily basis. I strongly encourage everyone to try to find a little time in your schedule to volunteer. Any assistance helps, is greatly appreciated, and you'll thoroughly enjoy yourself. I've found my tribe, and hope you will join us soon!!

Anabel Lee's Haute Couture for Hounds can be purchased at our thrift store, The Big Thrift!
