  • Camille was born and raised in Carthage, MS, and has resided in Rankin County for the past 37 years. She received her bachelor's degree in business from Mississippi College and went on to work for MDOT for 29 years before retiring in 2015. She was, and remains, an active volunteer for MS SPAN and joined the Board of Directors in 2023.

  • Shelby volunteered with MS SPAN for a year before joining the staff, starting the annual Spaytacular fundraiser. She worked as the Communications Manager at MS SPAN for nearly a decade. She currently lives near her hometown in California with her two dogs and cat, all rescued from her time in Mississippi.

  • Diane is a Jackson, MS native who has spent the past 35 years residing within the Richland area with her husband. She received her bachelor's degree in nursing from UMMC and is a veteran of the U.S. Army Nurse Corps. Once finishing her service she went on to work at the MS State Hospital until her retirement. Now she is a proud Christian who spends her time gardening and traveling when she isn't volunteering at MS SPAN.

 
 
 

Elaine Adair, Former President & Founder

Elaine Adair was the founder and President of Mississippi Spay & Neuter (MS SPAN) and Vice President of Operations for MS SPAN's delivery systems: Big Fix Clinic, transport and targeted voucher programs as well as the statewide referral program to other clinics and voucher programs.

She had in-depth knowledge of the intricacies of running high-volume spay & neuter clinics, as well as firsthand experience in coalition-building. She was a consultant for establishing non-profit animal organizations and for administrative processes and services.

  • In 2016, she with two other animal welfare advocates founded a 501(C)(6) non-profit group called AAIM. The Board of Directors was involved in promoting animal-related initiatives that engage in educational activities, advancing laws, ordinances, and policies in support of political subdivisions and non-profit organizations involved in animal welfare and protection emphasizing the welfare of dogs and cats in Mississippi as well as the following.  

    Ms. Adair also had a background in the administrative support necessary for needs assessment, organizational development, and strategic planning that extended over a 20-year profession starting with the United States Air Force and ending with an early retirement from Lockheed Martin Corporation and the Air National Guard.

    She graduated with Distinction from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Distributive Studies: Communication, Theatre, English, and Psychology and from Southern College of Technology in Georgia with a Master’s Degree in Technical and Professional Communication. In 2012, she and her husband and their precious pets, including 4 feral cats who all survived the wrath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, moved back to Gulfport after living in Vicksburg for 4 years.
