Why: Alley Cat Allies launched National Feral Cat Day on their 10th anniversary in 2001 to raise awareness about feral cats, promote Trap-Neuter-Return, and empower and mobilize the millions of compassionate Americans who care for them.
Feral cats are unsocialized, wild cats that live in communities all over the country. The Big Fix clinic spays and neuters feral cats every Thursday to help control their population. Feral cats are trapped and brought in by good samaritans, and returned to their original territory after the procedure. Each cat receives a rabies vaccination and an ear-tip (slight flattening of the left ear tip), which is an internationally recognized symbol for a feral cat that has been spayed or neutered. For more information or to borrow a trap, contact the Big Fix Clinic at 601-420-2438.
